Florida Keys can only be explored in full with a boat. You can always rent one or bring your own. From fishing, diving, snorkeling to island hopping, there is something to do for everyone as long as you are in a boat.
Visiting and spending time on the sandbars of the Keys is one of the coolest experiences that you can have with your family. Hop on a boat and head to one of the many sandbars the Marathon Key has to offer. There are several to choose from on the Atlantic side of the islands. Make sure to bring plenty of food and drinks to the party. You can even bring a portable grill on your boat to enjoy some fresh fish while you are standing on the sandbar. Experience the clear blue waters with wildlife.
Snorkel around the reefs with your kids. There are also some that are marine conservation areas which are protected from fishing, but great scenery under water.
Fishing is always number one attraction in the area but the second favorite is diving. Water is warm year around. You can see many colors of the reef with fish and wildlife. Moray eels, Barracudas, stingrays, and reef sharks are not uncommon. Yellowtail always puts out a show. The reefs are also well known for Lobsters and lemon sharks. Keep your camera ready at all times.
Manatees are everywhere. They eat the sea grass along the ocean coastline but they mostly are in the canals visiting docks and cruising for some freshwater. You can see two resident Manatees around our dock at Rent Dock Space. They are usually there during winter time when the water temperature slightly drops.
You can take your boat to Duck Key or Key Colony for an evening ride. You can see Dolphins cruising by and also explore the canals between homes and islands for variety of sea life. Watch sunsets and explore different mangrove habitats.
You can also take your boat to eat at one of the dockside restaurants. Dockside Boot at Key Harbour is 3 minutes away from Rent Dock Space location.
